Opportunity
Allos, Brazil’s largest shopping center operator—with 57 properties and listed on B3 (ALOS3)—had just established a new ESG framework and set its commitments through 2030. The strategy was solid and comprised four areas of focus: environmental goals set in advance for the Amazon region ahead of COP30; inclusion in the stock exchange’s main sustainability indices—ISE, ICO2, and IDIVERSA B3; and the sector’s highest CDP score. All of this fell under the umbrella of “Sustainable Life Centers,” an English-language concept used primarily internally, which made sense to investors and experts but meant nothing to employees, store owners, and consumers.
Solution
Our in-depth analysis resulted in an ESG Dossier that examined the company, its sustainability report, and industry benchmarks, and made it clear that traditional corporate communications would fall short in this context. We then translated “Sustainable Life Centers” into a national, emotionally resonant, and relatable concept, with the central narrative “ALLOS: Spaces that transform your life and our future.” The four technical hubs were rebranded as spaces that include, care for, conserve, and develop, and the key visual reinforced this idea by transforming the line of the Allos logo into welcoming parentheses.
Two guiding principles shaped the work: organizing the themes so that each commitment made sense within the right pillar; and not overpromising, with a “Do’s and Don’ts” guide that shields the brand from greenwashing. Transparency as a means of building credibility.
We developed SWOT matrices for environmental, social, governance, and communication issues, as well as a framework of key messages organized by theme and stakeholder, with both proactive and reactive versions for each sensitive issue. We broke down the narrative into a detailed annual editorial plan, aligned with the malls’ actual calendar, and produced a corporate video presenting the strategy. We didn’t just provide guidelines; we delivered the “how-to.”
Results
Well-received by the client, the tagline was incorporated into the sustainability report, the corporate video, and official materials, even leading to changes in the company’s marketing management. We provided Allos with a communication framework capable of translating complex commitments into a clear promise, without falling into the trap of greenwashing.
